Software Engineer · Crestone, Colorado
I’m David, a software engineer based in Crestone, Colorado. Two kinds of technology have held my attention: the kind we build, and the much older kind aimed at the mind itself. What I keep coming back to is where they overlap — tools that leave people more capable and more awake, rather than more scattered.
Right now I’m building super.engineering, a Rust app for running fleets of AI coding agents. I nerd out on making it fast, and on the harder question underneath it: AI lets us take on far more at once, but attention is still limited. A tool that hands you ten times the work and none of the focus to meet it hasn’t actually helped. These are the kinds of problems I like solving.
Before that I was CTO and founding engineer at ILLA Labs, building financial infrastructure for AI agents, which grew out of my work at Layer3. Earlier still: Regen Network, SALT Lending, and a stretch of agency work through the first crypto cycle. Mostly TypeScript and React then, mostly Rust now.
In 2023 I took a year off for a meditation retreat at a Tibetan Buddhist monastery here in Crestone, something I’d wanted to do for a long time.
If you want to talk about any of this, send me a message.
